Fixtures That Work the First Time, Because We Design and Build Them

A fixture is only as good as the engineering behind it. At Damark, design and fabrication happen in the same building, by the same team. When the person designing your fixture can walk over and talk to the person building it — and prove it out on the floor before it ships — you end up with tooling that actually does what it’s supposed to do.

Damark has designed and built hundreds of fixtures over the last few decades. That depth of experience is in every fixture that leaves this shop.

Weld Fixtures

Custom weld fixtures for manual, semi-automated, and robotic welding operations. We design to your weldment geometry, clamping sequence, and production environment. Repeatability is built in from the start.

Fixtures for CNC milling and turning operations: locating, clamping, and holding parts in the right position, every time. We design for rigidity, chip clearance, and operator usability.

The Process

How the Process Works

  1. 1

    You describe what you need

    Send us part prints, weldment drawings, or assembly documents. If you have an existing fixture that isn’t working right, send that too. A description of the problem is often as useful as a drawing of the solution.

  2. 2

    We design it in SolidWorks

    Our engineers model the fixture in full 3D, working through clamping sequence, locating strategy, and operator access. You review the design before we cut metal.

  3. 3

    We build and prove it out

    The fixture is built in-house on the same floor as our machining and welding operations. We prove it out with your part geometry before it ships.

  4. 4

    We deliver a fixture that works

    And if something comes up after delivery — a design change, a worn component, a modification — we’re the same shop that built it. Call us.

Most shops either design fixtures or build them. We do both, which means the engineer who designs your fixture answers to the same standard as the machinist who builds it. There’s no gap between what was designed and what gets made.

We’ve built fixtures that load parts automatically, clamp with hydraulic force, confirm part presence with sensors, and integrate directly into robotic work cells. We’ve also built simple manual weld fixtures for small shops doing low-volume work. The level of sophistication depends on what the job calls for.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer design-only services, or do you have to build the fixture too?+

We can do design-only if that’s what you need — a fully detailed SolidWorks model and drawing package your team or another shop can build from. That said, most customers find it cleaner to have design and build under one roof.

What information do I need to provide to get started?+

At minimum, the part print and a description of the operation. It helps to know your production volume, clamping preferences, and any equipment constraints. If you have an existing fixture or a sketch, send that too.

Can you modify an existing fixture?+

Yes. If you have a fixture that’s not quite working right — wrong clamp location, worn locators, a design that didn’t account for a part change — we can evaluate it and make modifications. We’ll tell you whether a fix or a redesign makes more sense.

Do your fixtures include sensing and part-present detection?+

Yes, when the application calls for it. We can integrate pneumatic, proximity, or other sensing. If you have a preferred sensor or controls interface, let us know upfront and we’ll design to it.

What lead time should I expect?+

It depends on fixture complexity, design time, and current shop capacity. Simple fixtures move quickly; complex tooling with hydraulic clamping or sensing takes longer. Contact us with your application and deadline.

What is the fixture made from?+

Most fixtures are built from mild steel or tool steel depending on the application. We can use aluminum for lighter-duty or weight-sensitive applications. Material selection is part of the design conversation.
